Online Security for your Information and Data

At LocateMyWill.com we believe that your private information and your private papers need to stay private.

We use the most secure web server we could find and we’ve “hardened” it against hacker attacks with multiple levels of additional hardware and software protections. Our server is a managed, monitored, and dedicated server. We do not store your information in a cloud server or a shared server. Additionally, all your inputted data is kept in encrypted form, so even if a hacker were to get past our security, the data would be useless. Your files cannot even be located.

Your two passwords – the Account Password and the Read-Only Password (that you can provide to your most trusted heir or heirs) – serve both to allow access to your information and uploaded files and also serve as the decryption keys (to un-encrypt your encrypted data). That’s why it is so important that you have very “unguessable” passwords that you keep secure. No matter how much security we provide, your passwords are the keys, so keep them private.

Additionally, at LocateMyWill.com we have “Two Factor Authentication” (“2FA”) available on our site. If you enable 2FA (and we recommend that you do so), then every time you log in you will receive, via email to your registered email address, a Verification Code that you must input to complete the login process before you will gain access to your information. Thus, if some unauthorized person should get or guess your Account Password, the system will not allow access until the verification code that was sent to your email is typed in.

As you will see elsewhere on LocateMyWill.com, your Read-Only Password will allow access to all of your information and uploaded documents, but will not allow any of this information or any of these documents to be modified or changed in any manner.

We at LocateMyWill.com cannot see any of your personal information, other than the profile information (your name, email address, etc.) that you used to set up your account. We have no interest in seeing your data, and have built our system so that it is not even available to us. Take a look at our Privacy Policy: It begins, “We will not sell, lend, give, or share your private information with anyone for any reason.”

But please don’t forget your part in keeping your data secure: Please don’t use a dictionary word, or a simple keyboard pattern, or a password you use elsewhere, to secure your information. If you ever believe that, somehow, your password has been compromised, please change one or both passwords on our site as soon as possible. (If you change the Read-Only Password, be sure to give your trusted heirs the new Read-Only Password.)

As you can see, at LocateMyWill.com we take privacy very seriously, and have taken every precaution available to keep your data secure.
